This reno is in full swing! Since my last post, we have gotten down and dirty with the subfloor and the bathroom. Long story short, a little water over a long time will cause some unbelievable damage. Check your crawl space often, people!
As I sit here listening to the sounds of rusty nails being ripped through fifty year old wood, I’m realizing that rotten subfloor is not for the faint of heart! We have found asbestos, mold, and lots of spongy wood. The smell is pretty rank, too. I am so thankful to have such a dedicated “crew”, consisting of Clint, my dad, and our long-time neighbor.
As of now, my bathroom and living room are one in the same. We are extending the bathroom about two feet, which will make a huge difference in the smallish space. Here’s the view from the living room:
This assortment of pry bars and a whole lot of time and muscle are getting the job done.
We are hoping to have in a sturdy new subfloor sometime in the next week or so! Until then, I’m trying to start graduate school and teaching third grade!
